The Society for Back Pain Research aims to promote the study of pain in the spine. The Society stimulates research into the causes, prevention and treatment of back pain by providing interdisciplinary meetings for those involved in such research to present, discuss and disseminate the results of their work.
We are a group of researchers and clinicians who are interested in research in all aspects of back pain.

There are around 100 members of the Society, and our members include many of those involved in research in the field of back pain, including clinicians, surgeons, basic scientists, research methodologists and representatives from patient organisations and charities.
1971
The Society for Back Pain Research was formed in 1971 to promote the study of all clinical and scientific aspects of spinal pain, including the neck, and to encourage research into its causes, treatment and prevention.
